photoMy name is Dave Brownlow,

and I am running for the United States Senate because the professional politicians we hired to do the job have failed us.

Decades of compromise has left us with “two” political parties that have become so similar, it is nearly impossible to distinguish one from the other. With virtually no opposing power left in Washington, we are continually victimized by a lawless, one-party system that is driving us into moral and fiscal bankruptcy.

Our Constitution authorizes the federal government to perform a very specific - and very limited - set of functions; provide for the common defense of the states, secure our borders, coin (real) money, regulate inter-state and international commerce, protect our inalienable rights - and very little else!

While the nation's primary law-making powers were delegated to the state legislatures, our real government exists within the people, working in our communities, families and churches. We have turned that design completely upside down, and have given near total power to the federal government. The experiment has failed, and …

It is time to take that power back!

If elected, my commitment is to defend the Constitution and only vote to approve legislation that falls under those clearly defined mandates. This means a foreign policy of peace, commerce, and non-intervention with our world neighbors, and a policy of individual liberty here at home - policies my opponents have given no indication they even understand.

Beyond that, I will use my bully pulpit to expose the real culprit behind the economic chaos we see swirling all around us - that we have outsourced our monetary policy to a cartel of private, international banks called the Federal Reserve, which creates our money from absolutely nothing and charges us an exorbitant fee for the privilege of using it. We ignore the insanity of this bizarre counterfeiting scheme at our own peril.

We have given the career politicians many decades to figure this out, and they have failed us - HUGE. Our economy is in a state of virtual meltdown; the value of our dollar is heading toward free fall; our real debt has exploded to over $60 trillion; our manufacturing base is being shipped offshore; federal "entitlement" spending has soared to $1.7 trillion annually; our borders have become a virtual sieve; and our military is bogged down in two simultaneous, unconstitutional wars - while trying to defend a trillion dollar a year empire (also unconstitutional) that spans across 130 countries.

Clearly, something has got to change.

Most politicians (my opponents included) claim to know exactly how 300 million Americans should educate, medicate, feed and house themselves. They also want us to believe they posses the skills to somehow "manage" our $14 trillion dollar economy, or that their latest harebrained scheme is going to fix the federal programs that have been miserable failures for decades. In other words, they are either living in a fantasy world, or they are just not dealing with us honestly.

Let me be very upfront about this - I do not have even the slightest inclination, nor the presumption, to tell anyone how to run their life, raise their kids, or spend their money. Gosh, there are days I can barely drag myself out of....well, you know what I mean - nobody needs another politician in a fancy suit pretending they know what is best for us. (Me? I don't even own a suit!) We all have the right to determine our own path through this journey, just as long as we don't hurt anyone else along the way.

I appreciate you taking the time to visit my site. I have tried to outline a set of positions that reflects a commitment to honor my oath of officewhich is to defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic, (particularly the domestic ones!) while doing what I can to restore our lost liberties.

You may not agree with this pro-life, anti-war conservative on every issue, but you will definitely know where I stand – and as you will quickly realize while perusing this site, no one is going to accuse me of trying to win votes with a lot of happy talk.

Our country is in serious trouble. It is time we start telling each other the truth.

Thanks,

Dave Brownlow

It looks like we waited too long, but here are a few thoughts on where we went wrong - A MODEST PROPOSAL TO END THE WAR ON TERROR.
